The 2024 Golden Globe Nominations Are Here

After a year that included two Hollywood strikes and what felt like some of the biggest movies of all time, things are starting to get back into the swing of things in Tinseltown. After several awards shows were postponed, rescheduled, and shuffled around, 2024 is kicking off with the Golden Globes, which celebrate the best of film and TV — though unfortunately, Suits isn't eligible for any of the big awards, even with everyone queueing it up.

Add the whole Hollywood Foreign Press Association controversy, and it seemed like the show wouldn't go on for one of the biggest ceremonies of the year. But Eldridge Industries, the company that's been behind the show for decades owned by billionaire Todd Boehly and Dick Clark Productions, agreed to keep the awards ceremony going and purchased the HFPA’s Golden Globes assets to grow the brand and make it as glam and glitzy as the Academy Awards. This year's voting body includes 310 journalists from outside the U.S., Vogue reports, proving that the organization is making efforts to be more inclusive and diverse.

As for the show, it'll continue to celebrate both film and television, making for one of the most rowdy and star-studded events of the year (and the unofficial kick-off to awards season in general). Variety adds that there have been some changes this year: "Each category will nominate six nominees, an increase from five, except the new best cinematic and box office achievement category (for movies that grossed more than $150 million, with at least $100 million in the U.S.), which will name eight." That means there's even more potential for star power at this year's ceremony, which will be held on Jan. 7, 2024, and air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+.
